Show FOREIGN. The Cuban leaders Maceo, Roderizer, and Castello were caught at the Spanish lines trying to escape by way of Cadiz by land. Fifteen natives and three Europeans died at Manilla from cholera Sept. 11, and there were 125 deaths in the provinces. The city corporation of Montreal, Sept. 12th, declined to take charge of the bequest of $15,000 by Mayor Mills, for distribution in bread to the poor. Portsmouth dispatch, Sept. 12: A schooner anchored off here caught fire and was partly burned and sunk. Part of the crew were rescued; the rest are in the rigging with rescuers after them. The sea is running very high. |
