Show LOCALISMS. ONLY one day more in which to register. ALL kinds of job printing done at the Journal office. ALL who have not already done so should register at once. THERE will be no opportunity to register after to-morrow, Saturday. DON'T forget that we are prepared to execute orders for all kinds of job printing at the Journal office. THE large posters of the coming fair are well distributed about town. They should incite ?? among exhibitors. THE season for the resumption of work by the Y. M. M. I. A. is approaching. On Sunday, Oct. 1st, a conference will be held in Logan Tabernacle. THE public of Logan and Providence will bear in mind that the Logan Dramatic Club will play "Evadne" and "A Kiss in the Dark" in Providence Theatre to-morrow night. WORK on the county court house, suspended for some time, has been resumed. The walls are high enough to give a good idea of the beauty and proportions of the building when finished. THE races at the coming fair, it is predicted, will be the most exciting ever witnessed in this county. The number of entries to be made is unprecedented, and many horses are in training. A LAUGHABLE incident occurred in front of the Logan House on Tuesday. Two men were testing each other's grip, by turning a broom-stick, when one of them lost his balance and sat down squarely in the water ditch. THE funeral services of Daniel Johnson, Jr., were held at the home of his parents in the fourth ward on Wednesday at 10 a.m. There was a large attendance of neighbors. Among the speakers were Bishop Thomas X. Smith and Counselor Thomoas Morgan. NO further evidence has been discovered relative to the motive of Daniel Johnson, Jr., in ending his life. Two letters written by him the day before he hanged himself show no indications of a morbid state of mind nor intentions to commit suicide. ON Wednesday three splendid loads of pine logs were drawn up near the Journal office and quickly sold. The loads, so good guessers said, would average one and a half cords, and the three dollars per cord was the highest price asked for firewood last winter, but the above transaction would indicate a slight rise in the price already. What it will be when snow is deep in the mountains remains to be seen. THE transfer to the Utah & Wyoming railroad of the Mammoth coal beds in Wyoming, in which a number of Logan men are interested, has at length been practically consummated. A draft for the payment of the claims of the locators, with the exception of some fractional parcels of coal land, has been issued. This business has been pending so long that most of the locators, if not all of them, feel relieved at seeing it closed at last. |
