Show MR. POWERS has plenty of copies of "Gaskell's Compendium" in cloth binding on hand now. And on Jan. 27th a large supply in leather binding left Chicago, and will be here in a few days.

AT A PREMIUM. A fact which has given the people of Utah world-wide celebrity, is that ladies are held at a premium by them. But on the occasion of the last Angell Orchestra party, which was to have transpired in Logan Hall on Friday evening last, ladies were at an enormous premium. Fifteen to one was freely offered on them. That is, thirty-five gentlemen came to the dance, and only two of them brought partners! Any other than a "stag" dance was impractical under such circumstances, and after waiting in vain a long time for more ladies, the company dispersed.

NOTICE It is hereby given that as my wife, Annie Elizabeth Beutler has left my bed and board for parts unknown, I hereby certify that I will not be responsible for any debts contracted by her after ten days from the date of this notice. Regarded so by the best informed people the world over. This machine is the one that is opening the eyes of the public to the differences between a good sewing machine and a poor one. And people are demanding the best, because it is the cheapest. We invite them to look at the new Howe, and we take pleasure in recommending it as the best machine of the day. It is the lightest shuttle machine in the market, only one hole to thread in the shuttle, and is guaranteed to outlast any two other machines models. The Company build no inferior grades of machines, but each one is finished with the greatest care. In fact they are so thoroughly constructed, and finished so carefully, and are sold so reasonable that "bogus" inventors find no profit in starting a Howe Factory at every crossroad, therefore they seek other fields where margins are greater.
