Show MISSIONARY REPORT. To Prest. [President] Preston and Counsel: Dear Brethren:--We submit to you a synopsis of our three months mission in this Stake of Zion, for which we were set apart on the 7th day of Nov., [November] 1880, and which continued until Feb. [February] ?[8th] 1881. We commenced our labors at Mendon and from there we visited all the wards and settlements and scattered families around the same, to Paradise south, and from there to ?[McCall] Centre north. We found the people invariably glad to receive us, and listen with the greatest attention to the gospel. Frequently they would bear their testimony that we taught the very things most needful. Many followed us up form place to place to hear us talk. We feel in our hearts to say God bless all the Bishops and their counselors and the leading men of the wards and districts, for the aid we received in passing from one place to another and in getting the people together. We are satisfied that the present missionary system is a good one, for it enables the missionaries to reach the homes and hearts of the Saints, no matter how remote or solitary they may be, or how far apart from the public meeting place of the ward to which they belong. We have attended ?[148] meetings, blessed and administered to ?[79] persons, and heard about 313 persons bear their testimony to the truth of the gospel. We have traveled about 500 miles and in all have had a very pleasant time, and we sincerely hope that our labors have been profitable to the people, for we know we have gained a good experience ourselves. Praying for the interest of the Saints and the progress of the work of God, we subscribe ourselves, your brethren, Robt. [Robert] Baxter, C. J. Larson. |
