Show VIOLATIONS OF THE GAME AND FISH LAW. Editor Leader - Perhaps it would be timely to offer through the columns of your paper, a few hints to those who are constantly violating the Game and Fish Law, and thereby save the parties the penalties of breaking said law. I have noticed that a number of boys are in the habit of fishing with a hook or hooks attached to a rod by a short line. This mode of catching fish is commonly called gigging or searing and while a great many are caught in this manner, far more are wounded and left to die and foul the water. Now the law has prohibited taking fish in the above manner, and it is about time something was done to those who persist in thus breaking the law. It is said that there are saw mills in this county the owners of which allow the saw dust to go into the streams contrary to the above law, and that there are dams constructed across some of the streams in such a manner as to prevent the migration of fish to ??? from their spawning grounds. A hint to the wise is sufficient. Citizen. Logan, Oct. (October) 11th, 1880. |
