Show THE SALT LAKE OPERA QUIN-TET QUIN-TET They finally came, and -to use Julius Caesar's well known statement, state-ment, they came, saw and conquered. It really was a treat to hear good music, and it .certainly' was 'good music they made. The company entertained en-tertained in the Liberty theater, last Monday. . Theentertainers were Becky Almond, pianist, Zenna Mor-vi., Mor-vi., isoprano, Edna Dwyer, contralto, contral-to, Fred C. Graham, tenor, and Victor Vic-tor Christopherson, baritone. Miss Almond is an excellent pianist pian-ist and showed here ability, not only in her solo numbers, but also as an accompanist. She is one of those pianists who make the singing artist ar-tist feel that he cannot get lost with her at the piano. The two lady singers sing-ers are very satisfactory as to their voices as well as in regard to their musical education and atistic feeling. feel-ing. Only we would advise Miss Morris to exercise in piano and pianissimo, pi-anissimo, and Miss Dwyer, never to force her voice to a fortissimo because be-cause it carries best in mezza voce. Mr. Graham is a tenor of the old bel canto school and makes up by good use what his voice is lacking in sweetness. Mr. Christopherson is a baritone of finest qualities. We hope to see and hear them all soon again. |
