Show Notice To Those Having Water Rights Federal Water Commissioner H. W. Sheley, gives valuable information to those having storage rights on some twenty-four mountain lakes as follows: Abuindance of water: Because of the recent general rain and the abundance of water throughout the summer, the commissioner deems that closure of the reservoir gates will not at this time cause nny shortage, of water to anyone. any-one. Therefore permission Is given to reservoir owners to close their gates now. Proceedure in closure: In each case please report at once to the commissioner: commis-sioner: (a) The day and hour of closure, clos-ure, (b) The depth of water on the gage, when yon close the gates, (c) The amount of outflow jiust befora you close the gates. These data are for your good as well as for the guidance of the commissioner. Please do this promptly upon your retujrn from the reservoirs. Require well-built Gates: Every reservoir res-ervoir should be well built, should have a screw lift, and it should J possible to lock the gate open or shut-One shut-One company has lost the water from a group of reservoirs for the past two years, because It did not have a gate as just requested and some unauthorized unauthoriz-ed person had removed the flash boards which is a statutory requirement. Gages: Now is the time to Install a substantial gage. It must be fixed firmly Into place so that It will not le possible to move it sideways to pull It up, or to shove It down. Said gage Is to have its zero at the elevation of the bottom of the Inside of the outlet gate or pipe. Capacity of Reservoir: If you have not already made a contour survey to get the capacity of these reservoirs and have not based such survey rlpon a known elevation which can ibe referred refer-red to your outlet gate or pipe, now Is the time to do It right. The law : All these things are necessary neces-sary for the efficient operation of the reservoirs, and they are statutory requirements. re-quirements. Failure to comply will Indicate that you do not value your stored water so much as you should. |
