Show I ALTAMONT LIVESTOCK SHOW RESULTS ALTAMONT (Duchesne County) Premium monies being distributed dis-tributed to ribbon winners amount to $500 for the 24th annual Moon Lake Chapter FFA Junior Livestock Show held Friday at the rodeo grounds here. Tom Th acker, president of the FFA chapter, served as chairman of the show, VearlR. Tucker, faculty adviser to the FFA chapter at Altamont, sponsors of this show which attracts exhibitors : from both Duchesne and Uintah counties, states $175 is yet to be distributed to these winners. Ninety-six exhibitors participated par-ticipated in the show, which was open to entry by both boys and girls who are FFA club mem-bers, mem-bers, 4-H club members, or other junior-age youngsters who are attending school Sixteen fat beef were exhibited ex-hibited at the show. Darr Fisher, Altamont, showed the grant champion fat steer, a Hereford; and Mac Jessen, A ltamont, won the reserve grand champion ribbon with his Hereford steer entry. A milking Shorthorn icow, exhibited by Randy Hartman, Altamont, won the grand champion dairy entry. Gary Young, Altamont, won the reserve champion dairy animal award with his exhibit. The grand champion fat pig, a cross-bred gilt was ! exhibited by Layne Caldwell the Dina 4-H Dairy Club,. Vernal. Ver-nal. Mack Fieldsted, Altamont, showed the grand champion fat lamb, a Suffolk, and his brothers, Joe and Brent, showed the prize breeding sheep. Fred Kissling's quarterhorse ; won the grand champion ribbon rib-bon for the senior division horse show. Money for the premium payments was received - $90 from the Utah State Department of Agriculture; $150 from Duchesne Du-chesne County; and the remainder remaind-er from the advertisers who subscribed to advertisements in the premium list and program. Judges for the show were Prof. John Barnard, extension dairyman, Utah State University, Univer-sity, who judged the dairy, and the horse show entries; Nile Matthews, Uintah County agricultural agent, who judged the bee$ sheep and pigs, assisted by Max Sudweeks, extension ex-tension agent at Roosevelt, a assigned to the Uintah & Ouray group. Lloyd Smith, Duchesne County agriculture agent, is given thanks for his assistance in making this a success. .. The officials report it was a fine day at Altamont for the stockshow. Mr. Tucker said it was the best day he had ever seen for the show,. The participation parti-cipation was good and the enthusiasm en-thusiasm of the parents was niore noticeable than usual. j Refreshments were sold by the Variety Arts Club, with profits being saved to sponsor j the senior class reception at the j Altamont High School this month. Norman LaRose won the bridle prize. |
