Show STANDARD GILSONITE CO. APPOINTS NEW MINE ENGINEER Mr. L. Jerry Berg has been appointed general superintendent superinten-dent of operations for the Standard Stan-dard Gilsonite Co. , according to T. B. Pickens, Jr. , President Presi-dent of Mesa Petroleum Co. , Amarillo, Texas. In September of 1965, Mesa Petroleum Co. purchased . S tandard Gilsonite Co. Since last September, operating facilities have been improved and expanded, including a new washing and drying complex, com-plex, additional sotrage for separation of grades or grinds, coupled with the latest in pneumatic handling equipment. The company's gilsonite deposits de-posits are located in the Uintah Basin and the processing mill is located 14 miles west of Roosevelt, Utah. Mr. Berg graduated from South Dakota School of Mines & Technology in 1958 with a B. S. degree in Geological Engineering and in 1959 he received a B. S. degree in Mining Engineering.' Refined gilsonite is an exceptionally versatile material one of the purest types of solid so-lid hydrocarbons known, being 99. 84 Gilsonite is contained in a wide range of products, such as printing inks, asphalt floor tile, pipe insulation, oil well cement and drilling muds, paints, and as an asphalt pavement additive. Mr. Berg is married and has two children. He and his wife have already purchased their home in Roosevelt. |
