A precedence was set years ago when the Ross Subdivision (in Grand County) was annexed an-nexed bv Green River City. There are some problems pro-blems in the administration administra-tion of Green River (because (be-cause the city is current -ly in two counties); the area of police jurisdiction; jurisdic-tion; collecting anil disbursing dis-bursing of tax revenue and fine money; and a few properly owners that vigorously vi-gorously oppose annexation. annexa-tion. For over a year the Cily of Green River has not turned over fine money that belongs to the County of I'.mery. The Finery Coiinly attorney. Turner, met wilh the Green River Cily Coun cil iu..-.. ii.ss the payment of fine money collected since the City Justice of the Peace, Mr. Twichcll took office. Mayor Hatt and the council proposed that when there is something some-thing other than a verbal agreement between the cily and county that the funds would be split on a 25-75 per cent basis. The money involved amounts toabout $25,000. Does Grand County have the same verbal understanding with the city of Green River. A general desire of the people in Green River is to have the Grand County line extended to include all of Green River City, they would accepted and recognized , more than F.merv County has done in the past. This action would take a majority vote of I'.mery County which Is very unlikely since Green River Is the biggest revenue source of I'.mery County due to the numerous motels and tourist trade there. |
