Green River Chamber of Commerce Hoard met on Tuesday and set up an annual election general meeting for February 19 at Ben's Cafe at 6:30. This will be a dinner meeting, with people who do not wish to attend the . dinner joining the group for the business meeting at 7:30. Four Hoard members' terms have expired, and new members to replace them will be elected. The Board will then choose a President and Secretary at a later meeting. Current Cur-rent President Ted F.k-ker F.k-ker asked that he be not nominated. and Gary Howland does not wish to run for Board membership: member-ship: this leaves Bob Seely, Jim Hurst, Newell Maughan and Pearl Baker as nominees for election to the Board. There will be nominations from the floor, and also vvriteins on the ballot. Mayor Rey Lloyd Hatt is the other rctiriiig Board member, and it was decided that hereafter, here-after, the Mayor is automatically auto-matically on the. Board. Anyone who has paid dues the past couple of years is eligible to vote, or a pledge of membership member-ship will be presented, and if you wish to vote, indicate your interest in joining. Speaker for the evening will be from the Bicentennial Bicen-tennial Committee, and as there is ample money-available money-available and Green River Ri-ver hasn't indicated the need of any project, your ideas are solicited. Please come! City Council . . . County Attorney Charles Char-les Taylor met with the City Council on Thursday evening in regard to money mo-ney which Judge Twitch-ell Twitch-ell has collected on traffic traf-fic fines. 'These monies are to be turned over to the county. Mayor Hatt and Judge' Twitchell will send vouchers to the County for, expenses the City has accrued for collection col-lection of fines. Attorney Taylor also asked Mr. Twitchell to retain fines collected in January in his account until such time that the County can come up with a percentage percen-tage of monies due the County. This fine money will go into the General Fund of the County, and if the City of Green River needs extra money, it will have to be budgeted out in the 1976 budget meeting next winter. A car has been obtained for the Deputy Sheriff to be assigned to Green River, Ri-ver, and a radar set ordered. or-dered. An effort will be made to get more acceptable ac-ceptable facilities for holding runaway youngsters young-sters and other youthful offenders than the city jail. A County dog ordinance has been suggested, with the County responsible for dog licenses and a dog pound. The waterline from the new plant will be put across Ihe river the last of this month. The Fire Department reported that a 3-tone community siren has been proposed, with one tone for curfew, one for disaster and one for fire. It will be funded by the counties and city. It was also proposed to finish the Fi rehouse on the inside, and authorization authoriza-tion for ordering 100 sheets of paneling was issued. Beta Zeta Social . . . Beta Zeta members had their January social at the home of Vicki An- derson with Lynda King acting as co-hostess. The members spent the evening playing bingo and the prizes were white elephant gifts brought by each member. State Council Meeting. . . Judy Ann Scott, Jolene Wright and Vicki Anderson Ander-son recently traveled to Salt Lake City where they attended a State Council meeting of F.psilon Sigma Alpha. The meeting was hosted host-ed by Alpha Alpha chapter chap-ter at the Print Shop in Arrow Press Square. They decorated w ith various var-ious sizes and shapes of snow flakes to the theme of "Snow flake Fantasy." Fan-tasy." There were ninety members from all over the state present. The 3 Beta Zeta members won the Travel Award for having the most members travel the furtherest miles. Business Meeting. . . Beta Zeta members met at the home of Phoebe F.lscnralh on Feb. 3. Reida Sherrill, President, Presi-dent, presided over the business meeting. The group decided to donate $75 to the High School Hand to help purchase new band uni forms. Phoebe F.lsenrath presented pre-sented an educational program on the "Hotels of the I'.arly West." Light Turned Off. . . Mrs. Henry Freeman called up to say that she understands there has been some criticism because be-cause they had their security se-curity light turned off. When they installed the light several years ago. it cost a little over $4 a month for power, and they felt they could afford that. However, the cost per month has more than doubled dou-bled and they feel they can no longer budget that much money for the light. If turning it off has caused cau-sed their friends and neighbors any inconvenience, inconveni-ence, they are sorry, and Mary asked me to'put a little note in the paper to tell them why it was no longer lighted. |
