Show Dead Horse Point Up in Visitors Visitation at Dead Horse of May totaled 19,30 persons, Point State Park for the month with 1,398 of those staying overnight in the park campground. camp-ground. Visitation for the month of May in 1975 totaled 12,200 persons, according to Mike Barker, Park Superintendent. Comparison shows there has been an increase of 48 per cent for the month of May this year. Visitation to date this year totals 40,100 as compared with 21,422 for the same period in 1975. This is an increase of 87 per cent, said Barker. Memorial Day weekend there were 5,868 visitors entering the park, making this weekend the best the park has ever recorded. The per cent increase over last year is 92 per cent. With the increased visitation visitat-ion the park is now installing a new 10,000 gallon water tank for use in the visitor center and Kayenta campground. This work will take about two weeks to complete. This past month the park received a new water truck, which is capable of hauling 4,000 gallons of water, where the older truck was only able to haul 2,500 gallons. The Utah Fun Tag and Senior 'Citizens cards are now available at the park for those who wish to obtain them. |
