An amended budget for fiscal 1977- ' 78 raising sulnrius of city employees un average of 13 percent was adopted by , the City Council Tuesday evening. The mill levy was increased from 19.5 to 21.5 mills, which will generate most of I the $20,800 needed for the salary ', increases. Of this $13,000 will be charged J to the general fund and $7,800 will bo charged to the water-sewer fund. , Pam Walston appeared with a delega- 't tion of 3 adults and 4 children asking that ' an animal shelter be built. Since thore was nothing put in the city budget for ', this purpose, the council stated that they ; will be willing to work with county, 4 II and private organizations towards accomplishing this goal. Water and sewer connection fees were ' discussed and it was decided the city will go by existing ordinances on the books I for all subdivisions approved of record as ; of July 19, 1977 recording these fees. It was the council's decision that a new , subdividor does not have to pay connec-J connec-J tion fees if he puts in all the necessary pipes, meters, etc. It was also decided to draft a new I ordinance governing subdivisions for ' water and sewer connection fees, as the present ordinance is in conflict with ! itself in some areas. I The 1976 edition of the uniform building code was adopted, including a . new fee schedule which will result in about 40 percent increase in building ; fees, the first increase since 1955. A street use study commission was , appointed to recommend actions regard- ing streets in the original 25 square ' block area in Moab. Members include Keith Peterson, Dixie Barker, K.E. ! McDougald, Dick Allen, I.D. Nightin-; Nightin-; gale, Jack West, Ralph Miller, Jr., Bill ' Hines, and Dick Hammer. Section 13 of the Moab City code was amended to include a new article ! governing private detectives in the city. |
