Show New Director Named for Wildlife Agency Donald A. Smith, currently ' Assistant Director of Utah ' State Division of Wildlife y Resources, has accepted the J appointment as the new, ! permanent Director of the Division. The appointment ' was made by the Utah Wildlife Board with the concurrence of Gordon Harmston, Executive Director of the Department of Natural Resources. The appointment ap-pointment was announced by Governor Calvin L. Rampton and will be effective October 1, 1976. , Governor Rampton said "Don Smith is a highly qualified professional with twenty years of service in Utah wildlife management, nearly eight of those as Assistant Director." The Governor also commented that he felt it was important for the State's wildlife management pro- grams to have a permanent appointment of a professional as the Director. The new Director graduated , from Utah State University I earning both Bachelor and Master Degrees in Wildlife Management. He has worked as a Waterfowl Management Area Superintendent and as Supervisor of Waterfowl Management Man-agement beginning in 1956. In 1965 he advanced to Chief of Planning and Programming. Don was appointed Assistant Director in 1969 by Bud Phelps, who will be leaving the Director's post October 1. |
