Show New Studentbody Officers Chosen At Grand High School April 30 GCHS has chosen their 1970-71 studentbody officers. The elections were held April 30, with the students presenting their studentbody cards and voting by secret ballot. The new officers are Ron Pruitt, president, Tcny Martineaux, vice-president, and Janet Ga'braith, secretary-treasurer. These officers were chosen from a group of six candidates, candi-dates, all of which presented themselves and some of their ideas during an assembly held on the same day as the elections. The candidates had been involved in a lively and enthusiastic week of com-paigning, com-paigning, putting up posters and signs. The candidates were divided into two campaigning cam-paigning parties, the Red Party and the VVhite Party. One candidate for- each office of-fice was on each party. Studentbody president for next year is Junior Ron Pru.itt. Ron's duties will range from conducting assemblies to presiding over Student Council meetings and in general, gen-eral, heading all student government. gov-ernment. Ron said that the campaign was very exciting and fun. He thinks next year will be a great year for the entire studentbody. About his next year's office, Ron said. "I think it'll be fun. Tony said this about his office, "It'll keep me busy, and I think I'll enjoy it: I know it" will be a new experience for me.'.' Tony mentioned that no real plans or ideas about changes chang-es for next year have been made. He attributed this to the fact that he and Ron were on different parties, which carried different- campaign cam-paign platforms. Janet Galbraith will be next year's Secretary - treasurer. Her job varies from taking minutes at Student Council meetings through handling of correspondence with other schools. Janet will also draw up a constitution test given each year to the new students stu-dents and Sohpomores. Janet thought that this year's campaigns cam-paigns were the biggest ones ever, and that campaign week was the "hardest week of her life." She said, "It'll be hard work, but I can't wait." All three officers seem to be enthusiastic and very dedicated ded-icated to their next year's job. They all agree that next pear will be "a great year for GCHS.! |
