Show Hanksville News. . . . By Barbara Ekker Mrs. Eula Allen visited vis-ited in Moab during the holidays with her daughter, daught-er, Darlene Wyatt and family. The occassion also al-so celebrated birthdays in the family. Mr. and Mrs. Rodger Ewell and baby from Pay-son Pay-son are visiting the Al-vin Al-vin Robinsons. Alvin and Rodger have three lion hunters from New Jersey in the Henry's this week but snow has hampered their activities. Also hunting lions in the Henrys Hen-rys are Phil Taylor and George Morrell of Loa. Weather seems to be the main topic of conversation conver-sation lately. Lowest temperature to this date was a -18 and snow depth at six inches still on the ground. Snow removal is a job for the State Road and Wayne County crews which are operating constantly. con-stantly. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Ekker Ek-ker and Mr. and Mrs. Vern Deeleeuw returned to Hanksville from California Cal-ifornia where they attended atten-ded the Rose Parade and visited with Glen's sister in La Mesa, and the De-leeuws De-leeuws visited a daughter in San Francisco. Miss Joanne Linder left for Mesa, Arizona this w eek after spending three months in Hanksville with the Riter Ekkers and writing her lecture material mat-erial of her recent trip around the world. Jody Jim Baker and Pat Taylor of Green River Riv-er spent some holiday time with the Steve Hatch family prior to Jody's departure de-parture into the service around the 18th. Steve and Jody were school chums. Mrs. Merintha Johnson was admitted to the I.W. Allen Hospital in Moab last week following a heart attack at her home here. She's returned home but limited to strict activities and diet. Her husband, Glen P. Johnson, John-son, is to reenter the Vets Hospital in Grand Junction for hip surgery this week. The flu bug has hit Hanksville and Andrew Hunt was among its victims. vic-tims. He's confined to quarters and wife, Olive is here from her home in Green River caring for him. Dave McKnab drove to Hanksville Thursday to pick up his sisters household house-hold belongings from her new home in Parker, Co. He reported icy roads and a blinding snowstorm all the way. The town water system was frozen for two days with water being toted by bucket from those homes with private wells. Riter Ekker and Charles Noyes worked round the clock to get the service back in shape. A dinnerparty was held at the Albrecht home Jan. 11, to celebrate Danny's and Mrs. Syliva Ekkers birthdays. Sylvia teaches pre-school here daily and Dan is a junior at Wayne High School and this celebration cel-ebration has become an annual affair. Donna Albrecht, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. L.N. Albrecht fell down the cement steps outside of her home Sunday and broke her foot. She was put in a cast at the clinic. Jack Peterson, Gains-ville, Gains-ville, is driving the school bus daily to Bicknell. Perry Jackson has driven driv-en the bus for a number of years and should be generously thanked for his service. About forty children ride this bus daily dai-ly with pickups in Hanksville, Hanks-ville, Gainsville and Capitol Cap-itol Reef. Hale Robison and Gor-die Gor-die Morell were in Provo over the weekend to sign up for classes connected with Trade Tech that they can take while still in High School. Ilite Marina employees say that the l iver at Ilite has frozen solid during the past cold spell. Anyone Any-one interested in ice fishing. |
