Recent pledges into Alpha Rho sorority were, left to right, Ernie King, Lois Jamison, Harriet Rich, Angie Wanalista, and Irene Lemon. Alpha Rho Sorority Holds Meeting, Hears Talk Guest speaker at the January business meeting of Alpha Rho sorority was David May, the assistant chief of interpretation and resource management for the National Park Service in the Moab area. He discussed environmental problems facing Moab at this time. He also revealed plans of the Park Service to establish es-tablish a sanitary land fill at a site yet to be decided south of Moab. All trash and garbage from Can-yonlands, Can-yonlands, Arches, and Natural Bridges would be deposited at this site. Questions were answered answer-ed by Mr. May throughout through-out his talk. Highlighting the evening even-ing was an impressive pledge ceremony. Mrs. Lois Jamison, Mrs. Er-nistine Er-nistine King, Mrs. Irene Lemon, Mrs. Harriet Rich and Mrs. Angie Wanalista Wa-nalista received their pledge pins and were welcomed wel-comed into the chapter and Epsilon Sigma Alpha International. Transferring Transfer-ring from the Monticello Chapter, Mrs. Vanita Hunt was also welcomed into Alpha Rho. Installation of two officers of-ficers was also held and Mrs. Wanda Hopkins assumed as-sumed duties as recording record-ing secretary and Mrs. Vanita Hunt became parliamentarian. par-liamentarian. Receiving their Palas Athena awards were Mrs. Helen Carter, first degree; de-gree; Mrs. Wanda Hopkins, Hop-kins, third degree; and Mrs. Bobbie Long, fourth degree. The meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Bobbie Bob-bie Long with Mrs. Eleanor Elea-nor Leystra and Mrs. Colleen Taylor as co-hostesses. |
