Show Green River Chamber Holds Annual Banquet Green River Chamber of Commerce held its first membership banquet ban-quet and general meeting meet-ing on Wednesday, Jan. 10. Thirty-two members and guests met at Ben's Seven Gables Cafe or a feast of good food and good fellowship. President Jim Hurst greeted the assemblage, presenting out-of-town guests, Mr. and Mrs. Winn Wendell from Price. He then talked on the past history of Chamber Cham-ber of Commerce in Green River, pointing out the change in the recent re-organization of electing both a president and a Chairman of the Board. The president presides over general meetings, but most business bus-iness is carried out by the Board, consisting of Ted Ekker. Chairman. He then turned the meeting over to Chairman Ted Ekker. Chairman Ekker reported re-ported on the progress of membership drives, with a total of 29 members mem-bers signed up. A start has been made on a brochure bro-chure for Green River, which is under the direction dir-ection of Jim Ramsay. He then called on Mrs. Pearl Baker, a member of the Emery County and Castle Country Travel Councils. Mrs. Baker spoke on the organization of the Travel Council, and stated stat-ed that the sum of $3.-071.36 $3.-071.36 has been rebated to the county by the State Tax Commission. In the statement accompanying the check, this amount was tagged as being taken in from September I to November 30, but County Recorder Bott had doubted doubt-ed the dates, since the starting date was July 1 Money for t,0 qiKU'ter beginning October 1 had not yet been paid in to the Tax Commission by the motels, so these date's are open to question. Mrs. Baker reported that the Castle Country Travel Council is waiting for the required three advertising ad-vertising agencies to submit bids for the proposed prop-osed Castle Country Brochure.
