Show Heart Fund Contributions in Grand $2,097 The Grand . County Heart Fund campaign received $2,097.21 in contributions during February, American Heart Month, it was announ-. announ-. ced this week. Mrs. Nori Swanson, Grand County Heart Fund chairman, commended the work of the local volunteers and the response of area residents by calling it "a job both volun- teers and the public can be proud of." Approximately 85 local volunteers vol-unteers participated in this drive to inform Grand County residents about heart and blood vessel diseases and collect funds for the fight against the nation's number one killer, which claims more than one million lives each year. Local committes reported their totals to date as follows: . Beta Zeta, Green River, $197.32; Mrs. Barbara Hawks, northeastern residential, Moab, Mo-ab, $374.24; Grand County Honor Society, Moab business district, $415,50; Beta Eta, Moab, $1,110.15. Mail returns are still being received from residents who were not at home when volunteers called. Mail contribution contri-bution envelopes were included includ-ed with the heart-saving information left at their doors. Mrs. Swanson expressed the hope that mail contributions contribu-tions yet to be received will raise the campaign total to $2,500. Heart Fund contributions contribu-tions may be mailed in any envelope addressed to the Grand County Heart Association, Associ-ation, co W. L. Commenting on public response re-sponse to the campaign, Mrs. Swanson noted, "The cooperation cooper-ation and generosity of the people of Grand County indicates the community's awareness of both the seriousness serious-ness of the problem and the need for research, educational and community service pro- ' grams to reduce the toll of suffering, death and disability from heart diseases." |
