Show Goaf for Ambulance Reached At Green River February was a very active month for members of the Green River Fire Department. The Green River ambulance responded to six requests for assistance, involving a total of 32 man hours and 577 miles of travel. Fire fighters responded to two fires during February. Property damage caused by the two fires totaled $45,075. A tribute and farewell party was held on February 19, 1976 at the fire station in honor of firemen Trevor Whiteside and Bruce Richies, who are leaving the area. Members of the fire department, and the citizens of G.R. wish to express their thanks to these two fine men for their service to the community. On February 28, 1976, the fire department sponsored a community talent show. The talent show was well supported suppor-ted by the community and a total of $500 in donations was collected toward the purchase of a new fire department ambulance. Chief Howard Burnett announced an-nounced that the $18,000 goal for the purchase of the new ambulance had been realized. Attainment of the $18,000 goal was made possible by the generous donations from County governments, the many businesses, clubs, and individuals in the Green River area. Emery County generously generous-ly donated $2,000. Grand County presented the fire 1 department with $1,000. Also a very substantial donation was made to the ambulance fund by Atlas Minerals. The Federal government assisted by contributing $7,500 toward the ambulance purchase. Chief Burnett recently attended attend-ed a meeting with federal government officials to finalize applications and bidding procedures. pro-cedures. The Green River Fire Department announced that there are presently two vacancies vacan-cies on the department.
