Show County Commission met here Monday At the regular meeting of the Grand County Commissioners last Monday Dixie Barker and Joe Gelo met with the Commission to discuBS the formation of a Community Needs Study Group to determine priorities for civic projects. One of the possible projects discussed was a survey of citizens in Moab to determine their opinion on the construction of a community center. The Commissioners passed a resolution agreeing to act as the sponsoring agency for the group. S. Gene Day and Scott Packer of the Moab HLM office appeared before the Commission to brief the Commissioners on the BLM draft management plan for Desolation Canyon, a portion of which lies in Grand County. The BLM representatives represen-tatives outlined plans to develop sanitary facilities and other services near Swasey's rapid on the Green River, where it is accessible by road. They stated that the development was necessary due to the heavy day use of the area. Day commented that the development was a "blueprint" for a similar project on the Colorado River. Paul Rattle, representing a group of nine Spanish Valley residents who attended the meeting, asked that the Commission investigate what the residents felt was a dangerous traffic situation at the intersection of Spanish Valley Trail and Spanish Valley D'ive. The Commissioners advised the group that they would look into the matter. Dave Bretzke and Lloyd Pierson, on behalf of the Moab Museum, asked that the County provide funds to purchase a bucglar alarm for the Museum. Bretzke said that the maximum cost for the system would be $800. The, request was approved. Tammy Ohaman-'Knell was appointed ap-pointed by the Commission to the Board of Adjustment. The Commissioners Commis-sioners also adopted a resolution pertaining to the transfer of utility services, property and equipment in the Highlands Subdivision from Grand County to the Spanish Valley Water and Sewer Improvement District. |
