Show Castle Valley Fire Department has named a new chief The Castle Valley Volunteer Vol-unteer Fire Department recently chose Dave Dur-rant, Dur-rant, veteran of the Moab Fire Department, as its new chief. Members of the I'i-year-old department have undergone extensive training in the past few months, according to Chief Durrant. "We have about 12 to 14 active members -people who come to every Tuesday night meeting and who take part in every weekend training session. These people are becoming becom-ing a well-coordinated firefighting team," said Durrant. Other officers elected include Frank Mendonca, Assistant Chief; Valli Bricker, Secretary; Kevin McGann, Hose Company Daptain; Jim Oakden, rlose Company Lieuten- ant; Barbara McGann, Safety and Engineering Captain; Donna Casper, Safety and Engineering Lieutenant; and Bill Boul-den, Boul-den, 2nd Lieutenant. The department recently recent-ly added another truck to its inventory. The new truck, a government surplus sur-plus power wagon, will be used as a combination quick-attack unit and e-quipment e-quipment truck, said Durrant. Dur-rant. Construction 'will begin soon on the Castle Valley Fire Station. Plans are currently being drawn by Ray Taylor of Canyon-lands Canyon-lands Design and Drafting. Draft-ing. Work will start as soon as the necessary paperwork is completed to transfer title of the land to the department. Persons seriously interested inter-ested in becoming mem- oooooooooc bers of the Castle Valley firefighting team are invited in-vited to attend one of the regular Tuesday night meetings at 7 p.m. at the home of Frank Mendonca at the old Castleton townsite.
