S. Army in the exhibit located in the lobby of the City and County building build-ing this week. The exhibit is open to the public, free of charge. " jzy Forward March," k exhibit tells the story the human experience basic training, an ex-erience ex-erience not readily foremen for-emen by 'those who have boon through it first hand. Basic Combat Training is where the Army begins, be-gins, and it is in Basic Combat Training Centers across the country that the effectiveness of next week's or next year's Army Ar-my is shaped. Through the use of original or-iginal artwork, photo murals, mu-rals, backlit transparencies, transparen-cies, slides and tapes, the exciting story of Basic Combat Training unfolds. First the viewer enters a Reception Area, representing represen-ting the first stop of the fledgling soldier on his way to basic training. Like the trainee, the viewer view-er is greeted by a drill instructor in-structor and introduced to what lies ahead by a series of color transparencies transpar-encies and taped narrations. narra-tions. From the Reception Area, Ar-ea, the viewer enters the world of Basic Training, making visits to areas representing rep-resenting General Military Subjects, Physical and Confidence Training; Weapons Wea-pons and Tactical Train' ing featuring a "break away model of the M-lo rifle; Testing and Special Training, where a 3-min-ute slide show is presented; present-ed; and finally the last step of Basic Combat Training, Graduation, at which the viewer interviews inter-views a drill sergeant and' trainee. The exhibit is open to the public and free of charge. It is accompanied by a team of soldiers ready rea-dy to answer the viewers' questions. |
