Edward Howlett Cannon, St. Marks, Salt Lake City; Robert Greymountain, St. Chris'-' Episcopal Church Convention Held Here Moab was the site of . the . annual . convention of .. the Episcopal Church, of . Utah last weekend with over 300 . delegates, alternates ' and visitors .attending. The. Rt. Rev. E.- Otis Charles, presided presid-ed over the meeting. On Friday, Bishop Charles' delivered his welcoming ad-dress-at Star Hall following convention entertainment provided pro-vided by a group of Navajo Indian girl's wno performed tribal dances. Small groups , were then formed to explore the problems inherent in the corporate life of the church. This was followed by larger group discussions, culminating culminat-ing in convention-wide debate and the adoption or defeat of many resolutions prior to adjournment ad-journment on Sunday afternoon. after-noon. . Highlight of the three-day convention was a procession from . the convention headquarters head-quarters to a festive Eucharist Euchar-ist service at St. Francis Church on Saturday evening. Religious songs and banners were in abundance during the half-mile march. Convention delegates from the Church of St. Francis were church wardens W. E. Leonard, and Jim Anderson. Others were Mrs. Jim Anderson, Ander-son, Mrs. Sid Shatley, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Wiseman and Mrs. Dennis Byrd. Hospitality chairman ,fc)r, the Episcopal Convention "was" Mrs. Byrd, who was aided by Mrs. Shatley, Mrs. Hal Johnson, Mrs. Mitch , Wil- liams, Mrs. Harold Bowen, Jr., Mrs. Mel Newman, Mrs. Jack - Riley, Mr. and ' Mrs. Jim Anderson W. E. Leonard, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Wiseman and Mrs. H. V. Temple. TheL convention was unanimous unani-mous in expressing its appreciation appre-ciation to the City of Moab for its hospitality. Many of the delegates delayed their departure until Monday lo allow for sightseeing, a local spokesman said. |
