Show Judge Grants Sentence Stay For Rehabilitation Try Only one criminal matter came Before Judge Edward Sheya who presided over Seventh Se-venth Judicial District Court on Tuesday. In the matter of the State of Utah vs. Del ford Lynn Ilotz, the defendant' had previously pre-viously entered a plea of guilty to a charge- of selling a narcotic drug. lie was ordered or-dered to tfie Utah State Hospital Hos-pital for evaluation and treatment treat-ment for 3o days and a presentence pre-sentence report 'Was ordered from the Adult Parole and Probation Board. The Utah State Hospital returned him to court with the statement that the de fendant was sane and that he knew the consequences and nature of his act at the time he committed this act. After hearing the recommendations recommen-dations of the defense counsel coun-sel that Hotz be permitted to enroll at Oddysey House in Salt Lake City for rehabilitation rehab-ilitation and upon recommendation recommen-dation of the state that this be done, Judge Sheya sentenced sen-tenced Ilotz to imprisonment in the Utah State Prison for the statutory period of five years to life but granted a stay of execution for six months to determine whether wheth-er or not Hotz can make progress pro-gress at the drug rehahilita- tion center. Representatives of the center cen-ter told the court that they were confident that they could cure Hotz. A monthly probation report was ordered from the center to report on the progress of the treatment treat-ment and Judge Sheya em. phasized that in the event . Hotz does not continue with the treatment or make progress pro-gress under the treatment, he will be ordered to serve the sentence. In other matters before the court a divorce was granted to Martha Ann CampbeE from Richard Campbell and to Goldie Johnson from Samuel Johnson. Norma Contreras was granted a dTVorce from Anthony Contreras. Also numerous probate and guardianship matters were heard arid disposed of. |
