Show Mourning Dbve Season Opens September 1st First of the 1967 bird hunts opens at G:24 a.m., September 1 with the opening op-ening of the mourning dove hunt throughout the State. Opening day shooting will end at 8:01 p.m., and if these shooting times sound a little late, it's because be-cause this year the shooting shoot-ing times are Mountain Daylight Saving Time or one hour later than last year's schedule. An estimated 20,000 dove hunters will be going go-ing afield after this sporting sport-ing and popular game bird. The 19G6 game bird harvest report issued by the Fish and Game Division Divis-ion showed 20,594 dove hunters afield last year and a harvest of 212,696 birds. Greatest proportion of the total harvest came from Utah county followed follow-ed bv Salt Lake county, Box Elder, Tooele and Juab Ju-ab counties. The 1967 hunt will run from September 1 through September 15 in the northern nor-thern half of the state. All other counties in the State will be open September 1 through 30. Daily bag limit will be 12 with a possession limit lim-it of 24 after two days of shooting. Shooting hours each day will be one half hour before sunrise to .sunset each day. These times are listed in the mourning dove proclamation proclama-tion which is available from any Fish and Game office or from license agents. ag-ents. All shotguns capable of holding more than three shells must be plugged to reduce the capacity of the magazine and chamber to not more than three shells. All persons 12 to 15 years of age are permitted permit-ted to take mourning doves in season, but must have a small game hunting lic- ense and be accompanied while hunting with a person per-son over the age of ma- jority.
