Show (Moab Museum; Grand County Library Boards Discuss Proposed Building vJoint meetings 'of the Moab Museum and Grand County Library Boards were held over the weekend week-end to discuss a proposed propos-ed building to house the two facilities. Tentative plfens are to huild adjacent buildings, "conected with a joint meet-Jpg meet-Jpg room with seating capacity ca-pacity of 90. Total space for Jhe combined entity will be about 9,500 square feet, and total construction cost approximately $250,-000. $250,-000. ; The new Library Museum Muse-um building would be constructed con-structed on Center Street Jots across the street from the courthouse. The present pres-ent Museum building fwiou'ld be razed, and! the adjoining west lot used as well. Library Board chairman, M,rs. Betty Farrow, said Edwards and Daniels, of Salt Lake City, had been fdhosen as architects for the proposed building. Carl yTanish, of Carson City, Nevada, Nevada State Library Li-brary Consultant, has been employed as consultant to fvt.M-ik W'it'h the architects' an I assist in obtaining grr.nts for the building. (Altready committed is $50,000 of Grand County (funds, to be matched with .federal funds. Hopefully a grant from the Fleishman .Foundation and other federal fed-eral funds will provide the balance). A representative-, of the Fleishman Foundation Founda-tion met with the Library and Museum groups this veek. ' Mrs. Farrow plans a meeting with the State Librarian in the near future fu-ture to finalize plans. The Grand County Commission Com-mission voted this week to staff and maintain the Moab Museum if a new building is constructed. |
