Mrs. Pittman said efforts to locate a common source railed. Mrs. Pittman said! all persons were recovering from the disease, and immediate im-mediate family members had been given gamma .globulin injections to prevent pre-vent further spread of the germ. Water samples from various sources were taken tak-en and will be tested. Mrs. Pittman emphasized ed that the six cases of Hepatitis in Moab do not indicate an epidemic. However, How-ever, a brochure has been "issued for the attention of residents listing ' precautionary precau-tionary measures that may ; 'be taken.. Working with Mrs. Pitt-men Pitt-men were Dr. John R. Crowell,- "MB, Epidemiologic Epidemiolo-gic Intelligence Service Of-1 ficer for the State Department Depart-ment of Health, and! Mr. 'Jackson, State Sanitation Department head. Mrs. Pittman has toured 'the Moab schools this week to apprise students of precautions that may be taken to prevent contracting contract-ing hepatitis. Emphasized is personal hygiene. Children Child-ren .should be taught fto keep dirty objects out of their mouths, and to wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after going to the toilet. |
