Show UTAHNS JUST PASS HALFWAY MARK FOR BOND SALES Although nationally the U. S. Savings bond drive was to close officially on Independence day, July 4, Utah will have two more weeks in which to try to pick up its quota of $2,316,000, Chas. L. Smith, chairman of the Utah Citizen's bond committee announced an-nounced this week. From the sixth weekly sales report, Utah has sold just $1,189,-798 $1,189,-798 to date since May 15, or 51.4 of its quota. The sales in just three more weeks are to be counted. Salt Lake county, with a quota of approximately half of the state's total has just $535,968, or only 46.6 per cent, falling behind the state average. Emery county coun-ty continues leading the list of counties with 100 per cent of its $3,000 quota. Mr. Smith has advised all county bond chairmen, banks and financial circles of the serious ser-ious possibility of Utah failing to reach its 1950 quota in the Independence In-dependence drive. At last reports it was 34th among the states of the nation and falling considerably consider-ably behind the national average aver-age of states in the drive. "Only by intensive work in the last two weeks of the campaign cam-paign can Utah go over the top in this most important national duty," Mr. Smith declared. O |
