SALT ISAL T LAKE CROSS i COUNTRY RUN MARCK 17 Seven High Schools s' s Enter i for Marathon Many ManyI i I Prizes Donated I Dont Don't call up th the city nut authorities ties if your vision from the front veranda veranda ve ye- randa these bright t spring days is confronted confronted con con- fronted with the sight of a score core of youths running down the middle of the street treet in extremely attire Just look them over and see if your son is not among the number for the high schools of the city will begin training at once for abig cross cross-co cross country run to tobe tobe tobe be known from now on as the Salt Lake ake City cross country This athletic affair will be staged March 17 17 the the Irishman's holiday holiday- and possibly entrants will com corn pete There are seven schools entered entered entered en en- to date and Sand m merchants of the city have donated sixteen prizes to be competed for This modified marathon marathon mara mara- thon will be bean an annual event of the high schools of the city and all other high schools schools' of ot the state are invited to I Join In It will be the gun that will fire off the salute to the opening of spring g track and fi field ld work in the local local local lo lo- lo- lo cal scholastic swim I The course for the cross country will be from the east side high school to the west side high school a distance distance dis die tance of twenty seven blocks or a fraction traction less than four miles The course will be from the east side high I which is at Ninth South and Thirteenth Thirteenth Thir Thin East north along Thirteenth East to South Temple At South Temple Temple Tem Tern pie the runners will turn west and proceed to Second West where they will go north along Second West to the west side for the finish Arrangements are being made with the city police department to keep traffic off these streets while the race is being run in order that none of the contestants will run the risk of being struck by an automobile or or any other vehicle Friday the west side athletes will go over the course for tor the first time and it is likely that t u a string of light armored youths may be seen stepping it off any afternoon from now now on in inthe inthe inthe the sections of the city through which the course for the big event extends The following schools have entered up to last night and also the number of youths who have signed for the the- ther r re respective schools West side high 39 east side high 28 L.
