Prior to the n mult? mat lou of the Colorado Telephone company, the Tri-Wtsie Telephone company and the I Kockv Mountain Bel Telephone com pflny as the Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph company, Mr. Hurgess was ceneral manager of the Colorado Telephone coin pan v. Mr. Burgess will remain here several week until the reorganization of the company V affair in completed, when he will return to Denver to the general headquarters of the company. Salt Iake City will continue to be division headquarters for the division including Utah, Idaho and a portion of Wyoming. The Mountain States eompaiiv hav ing filed ita acceptance of the city ordinances ordi-nances with the city recorder, the mat ter of franchises and their transfer will be discussed in the council session tomorrow to-morrow night. (Questions have been raised as to the legalitx of transferring the franchises granted to tho fndepen dent Telephone company to the Bell company, and later the transfer of all franchises held by the old companies to the Mountain States company, without consulting the city. In accepting the franchises the I Mountain Mates company agrees to pi the city I per cent of its gros earnings, and to furnish the city with 6fty free telephones. |
