Show JEWISH CHAUTAUQUA MOVEMENT FAVORED Representative of the National Jewish Chaatanqua society addressed large meeting at Temple B'nni Israel last night en the purpose of the Chautauqua, Chau-tauqua, The speakers were introduced by Rabbi Charles J. Frennd of the local temple. Dr. Henrr Berkowitt of Philadelphia Phila-delphia waa the first speaker. He aaid the efforts of the Jewish ehautauqua. like that of the general ehautauqua movement is to make the Bible an open book to all the world. Mies Jeanette Goldberg of Jefferson, Tex., field secretary of the Chautauqua, waa introduced ana told of the work of the ehautauqua as observed by her in six years' association with the'workers. Other apeakera were Rabbi Joseph Heveah of Congregation Monteflore. Kabbi Moses P. Jacobson of Hhreveiort. La., and Dr. William Rosneau of Johns-Hopkins Johns-Hopkins university, Baltimore. The visitors will spend a few dava in Salt Lake City in behalf of the Jewish t,nts"ons movement. ' |
