Show POSTPONFTGUDDEN-TOUR POSTPONFTGUDDEN-TOUR UNTIL TALI NEW YORK, Juns 3. Tha 1911 Glidden tour which waa to have stsrted at Washington on June SI waa today postponed by the contest board of the Automobile Association of America to an indefinite date in the early fall. The postponement was made on the request of numerous automobile manufacturers, man-ufacturers, particularly those in tba west, who reported that they had already al-ready sold their output of the 1911 model. Tha rules of tha Glidden tour require each entry to be a car of which there are at least twenty five similar ones in stock, and the manufacturers said they would not be able to make up the requisite numbers of new model cars for aeveral months. Without the entries of these sold out manufacturers there would be only fifteen fif-teen ears in the tour after it started on June 21. The Glidden tour after leaving leav-ing Washington on June 21 was to hava gone through Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York, Connecticut to Boston, and thence through Vermont to Montreal, and was scheduled to end at Ottawa on Jane 28. |
