Show OUR LOCAL 485 by Nachio Ortego The boys at Local No. 2 pulled pull-ed the surprise of the week. After Af-ter having the opportunity to return re-turn to the Intel national, which made their first good contract for them, while they were in our affiliation, the boys muffed the chance of a lifetime by getting sucked into U. S. Steel. This is the second time in the past five years, that the boys have been roped into something phoney, the first being led by their greedy leaders into believing that PMC was the light which they must follow or be lost. It didn't take the Local No. 2 boys very long to find out what they had been led into, yet, just a few years later the very same boys fell for the same line put out by U. S. Steel. What a line their leaders must have promised them. I am going around to see how many of their promises come true, and to see all who voted Steel go around with that far away look in their eyes. We send thanks to the few who voted for the only organization who could have honestly represented repre-sented them, and we will be here to accept their resignation from Steel, which I predict will not be too long in the future. The same thing is in the air for all the boys at Kennecott, but US Steel is to find out that, the members of the International Union of Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers will not be led by Murray's Mur-ray's thinking and phoney promises, prom-ises, because they are now in a union which gives them free speech, free thinking, which is something all US Steel workers do not have. Wake up membership. member-ship. Do not fall for any spiced-up spiced-up promises put out by Steel in the coming months. Tell them to go out and organize the eight million unorganized, and let us contented Mine-Millers be. To all members who are faithfully faith-fully filling out the special forms on travel time, be sure to return them to your shop stewards in the next few days, for we are now in the position to open negotiations ne-gotiations on the issue. The management man-agement of Kennecott has been notified, that we wish to meet and decide the true meaning of travel time. Since each of us is concerned personally we must make sure that your local receives receiv-es the special forms, and all the cooperation which we may be called upon for. |
