Beck are still receiving congratulations on the recent birth of a baby daugh-ter at St. Mark's hospital. Both mother and daughter are home and doing very nicely. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Yengich left Monday to return to Grass Valley, Calif., after spending ten days visiting here with friends and relatives. Sunday evening visitors at the Community House were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Barrutia and Tony Barrutia of Salt 'Lake City, for-merly of Highland Boy and Miss Ariella Moretti of Bingham. A party was given Tuesday evening at the Community House for the junior and senior choir and Easter play cast. Roller skat-ing was enjoyed in the gym and games were played in the library. Refreshments were served by the junior choir. The evening was closed with a short worship ser-vice. Nick Edward Yengich, son of "Mr. and Mrs. Nick A. Yengich, was baptised last Thursday, March 25 at Holy Rosary church Lake City and is employed at the State Finance company. Mrs. Milka Smilanich, Joe Loverich and Mary Casich spent the Easter holidays visiting with friends and relatives in Price. They returned Sunday and also brought Dorothy Milner with them who will visit here a short while. During her visit she will be house guest of Mrs. Smilan-ich. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Pino and children of Salt Lake City were Sunday guests at the home of Mrs. Mary Pazell. Joe Rakich Jr., Patricia Yen-gich and Josephine Rottini were among those in attendance at a birthday party held in honor of Norman Bianchi Sunday. The children spent a very enjoyable afternoon and the honored guest is still receiving a host of birth-day wishes. University of Utah students resuming studies after a week of spring vacation include At-teli- o Azzelio, Steve Smilanich, Helen Jeffcott and Marie Azze-li- o. Registration took place Fri-day, March 26. President Louis Scorzato and officers of the Highland Boy wish to take this opportu-nity to thank each and every re-sident who contributed so gener-ously to the success of the recent dance held March 27. A very special thanks goes to the "wo-men who assisted in the decora-tions and to Mrs. Joe Rakich who headed the committees. The sur-prise box was won by Mr. and Mrs. Pat Shea. Ernest Bianchi, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Bianchi, was among the freshman students who re-gistered Thursday at the U of U. Ernest was recently given an honorable discharge from the "highland boy: Maris Aizelio Congratulations this week are being extended to Mr. and Mrs. Marko Yengich who are the proud parents of a seven pound baby girl born March 27 at Cot-tonwood maternity home. The new addition has a brother Mark Anthony. Mrs. Yengich is the former Mary Pasquali. Mary Loverich left Saturday for Park City where she will reside at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Davich. Mary recently accepted a position with Spring-le- s Appliance Co. there, and re-cent reports state that she finds her work both pleasant and in-teresting. Rose Pazell, daughter of Mrs. Mary Pazell, was a week end guest at the home of her mother. Utah Underground War Plant Sitei Investigated United States military officials have carefully inspected possible underground war plant sites in east central Utah. The inspection is preparatory to blasting tests, set for late this year to deter-mine feasibility of underground war plant construction. Colonel Joseph S. Gorlinski, army engineer head, district of-fice, Sacramento, Calif., super-vised the inspection of Utah sites. Definite explosion tests are plan-ned for areas in the vicinity of Castle Dale, in central Utah and the Dugway Proving Grounds, western Utah. Spotlighting I UTAH J Big Mountain, To Be Celtbraiion Location Tentative plans are now being formed to fittingly observe Pio-neer day next July 24 on the summit of Big mountain, where the Mormon pioneers first glimp-sed Salt Lake valley 101 years age. The Utah State Road Commis-sion has promised to have the road which starts at the "This Is The Place Monument" gravel-ed and oiled in time for the Cele-bration. Another project is to develop II roadside parks along the high-way, three to be named after the three women in the first party of pioneers; however, the park projects will be held up until ownership of the land in ques- - tion can be determined. To Have Booths At Coast Vacation Shows The Utah department of pub-licity has arranged to have a Utah booth at a coming Los An-geles Vacation and Sportsmen's , show, and also a San Francisco show of a similar nature. The object will be to induce more coast people to come to Utah for their vacations, for fishing, camp-ing and hunting. At a Los Angel-es vacation show in 1946, more than 125,000 people visited the Utah booth during the ten days of the show. Zion Garden Spot To Be Beautified The beautification of the little town of Springdale adjacent to the west entrance of Zion nation-al park is now underway. Locat-ed in a picturesque valley and enjjoying a semi-tropic- al climate the area will be converted into a veritible Garden of Eden thru the cooperation of the Mormon church, the Utah state agricul-tural college and Charles Smith, superintendent of the park.. Cattle Rustlers Worry Northern Counties Police officers of Cache, Box Elder, Weber and Davis counties are planning a campaign against , cattle rustling in Northern Utah. In the early days, cattle rustl-ing was not- - a criminal occupa-tion; anyone who could round up a maverick an animal without a brand could claim the beast. Many a rancher built up his herd in this manner taking the mav-ericks from the open range. The modern rustler however works in a different manner.
