Measure Provides $10,000 to Pay for State's Tribute in Memory of Dead Commission of Ten Members Mem-bers to Select Site and Design De-sign for Next Legislature THE stats memorial bill, drawn by a special Joint senate and house committee, which provides for tha appointment of a memorial commission by tha governor to Inves-jtlgat Inves-jtlgat and erect a suitable memorial 'to fallen heroes of the world and other (American wars, and for an appropriation appropria-tion of $10,000, if necessary, to be used In lis erection, waa passed b the sen-iate sen-iate yesterday and sent to the house I The rules were suspended and tha 'final passages of the bill made poesl- ible as a result. The bill provides the commission to ba appointed to consist of the slate board of examiner and five eltlxens of Utah, tha latter, who will work without with-out pay and whose duties shall ba to consider and recommend the form or design for a suitable memorial The commission Is authorised in this bill .to use 1,80I5. now In tha hands of tha Utah state memorial committee, for the purposes of carrying out the provisions of this act. TO THIRD READING. renator Harrison Jenkins of Salt Lake vigorously scored the bill on the ground that Ihe carting of swill through the streets of the city would j be offensive to Halt Lake people and would also menace their comfort and I welfare. I After several amendments had been : made to .house bill 121. by Quinney, which provides for the creation of a department of agriculture In tha state government, the bill went over for a third reading on Monday. Ona of the amendments places the food and dairy bureau under the Ju-rladlction Ju-rladlction of this department. There has been a dispute over the department depart-ment in which this bureau should be placed. Some favored placing it under un-der the state board of health's Jurisdiction, Juris-diction, but this brought vigorous protest pro-test from dairymen In the northern part of the state. House bill No. 122. which relates to the Piute Irrigation project: house bill No. 4. which has to do with the fixing fix-ing of the boundaries of Millard and rievler counties, and house bill No. 122, which relates to tax sales on real ea-tate. ea-tate. all went over for third reading on Monday. |
