Hastings Driven With Wife and Child by Hunger From Arrowhead on South Nevada Desert AFTER being stalled on the desert of southern Nevada along the Arrowhead trail, where the pangs of hunger and want drove him and his wife and little" 2-year-old son to seek succor at the nearest human habitation, Willis E. Hastings of Salt I.ake was arrested this morning at Kingman. Arl. Ho was taken by Sheriff Muhoney at Kingman on Instructions Instruc-tions from both the Salt Lake police and department of Justice agents here. He is chsrged with having stolen the automobile In which he was hurrying south with his family. The necessity of applying for aid gave the authorities the first real clue aa o his whereabouts. WORKED AT GARAGE. Hastings waa recently employed at the Peterson garage at tha rear of 143 Kast First South street. According Accord-ing to the officers, he wss discharged on February 17. On February 10 he disappeared and an automobile that had been placed in the garsge by R. H. Pruhs of the Bennett Psint and Glass company for repairs was Ihisaing. In the meantime department of Justice agents at Phoenix have Issued . a fugitive comlpalnt against him until a certified copy of the real complaint com-plaint can be forwarded from Salt Lake.
