Show Great Quantity Of Booze Taken In N. Y. Raid NEW YORK, Jan. 5. The blgitest raid In thin city since tha Volstead act went Into effect was made here today when liquor valued at $250,000 waa seized by federal agents at the wholesale establishment of Hinger Umthera on Lower Third avenue. Scoree of cases of highest quality champagne and Imported wines, with hundreds of caaea of bonded whisky, constituted the stock seized by the raiders. Joseph Walsh, a driver, and Moe Herman, a clerk, employed by Singer Brothers, were arrested. Kinger Brothers, according to enforcement en-forcement agents, had a permit to transport liquor, but Walsh is alleged to have made deliveries without authorization au-thorization and Herman la alleged to have altered records. |
