Show U, S. AIDS CITY IN SMOKE WAR The federal government Wednesday Wed-nesday came to the aid of Salt Lake City in its fight on the smoke nuisance, nui-sance, with a W P A project to provide pro-vide firing Inspections and public education. Approval of the project was re-reived re-reived from Washington, D. C. by Darrell J. Greenwell, state WPA director. WPA research workers will report re-port smoke conditions to W. L. Butler, city smoke abatement engineer, en-gineer, who then will send engineers engi-neers to places creating smoke for instruction in lessening the pall. The project will last 10 months and will cost 130,695, employing 28 men to measure smoke and trace it to sources. Smoke observers will be on duty at three stations from 5 a. m. to 10 p. m. Work Is expected to begin by December 15. |
