Show Vandenberg-for-President Club Organized in Kansas KANSAS CITY, Mo, Dec. 1 (UP) The No. 1 Vandenberg-for-President club was organised for business today and the small band of Kansas City Republicans who populated it said they were not willing to take Senator Arthur H. Vandcnberg's "No for aa answer. an-swer. Vandenberg sent a telegram last night protesting that be was not a candidate and didn't want to be "put in a false position." Leo O. Koehier, who was elected president of the club, said: . "We know Senator Vandenberg la not a candidate. What we are trying to do la make htm a candidate," A group of young and eager partisans par-tisans comprised most of the new club member. Older and more deliberate Republicans here heard about the meeting and wired the Michigan senator about it last night Vandenberg sent the following fol-lowing telegram from Washington: Washing-ton: "Understand yoa are In touch with group purporting to organize a presidential club for ma Deeply appreciate th compliment but I , am not a candidate and should not be put in a false position. Honestly feel that the Republican party should be kept impersonal . so as to avoid needles friction while we are rebuilding te victor." |
