Show Radar System Guides 'Bats Contrary to popular superstition, supersti-tion, bats see better during the day than they do at night nor are they likely to deliberately fly into milady's hair since they detect de-tect obstacles in their path by means of an echo warning system sys-tem which is similar to radar. This echo system, and the bat's own 6ignaMng voice, lies in a wave band of 50,000 cycles at the rate of 30 times a second and is inaudible to the human ear which can detect only those sounds that are in the wave band of 20-20,000 cycles. |
