Show B.D.AA. FLASHES by Jim Abplanalp T'was many snows ago, as my I&jun friends used to say, that a strange occurance took place in the small town where the natives nativ-es usually hibernated this kind o' weather. After a mild snow fall of six or seven feet, a spell of chilly weather set in. It wasn't much use to do any talkin' as a feller's words just froze solid soon's they hit the air, so for a few weeks all was pretty quiet. But one morning, the town garageman nearly caused an epidemic epi-demic of pneumonia, a miracle averted only by some fast and efficient thinking by our crafty town marshall. Seems like all the cars in town (not too many in them days) were either covered up in some snow bank or frozen up just where the cold spell hit 'em, and that ambitious garage feller figgered he could pick up a piece of change by gettin' some of 'em started. Well, this morning I Was tellin' you about, the peace and quiet was shattered by some of the gosh-awfullest bellers and swear words us citizens ever heard. Hearin' the commotion and uproar, up-roar, nearly half the population thinkin' a warm spell had set in, rushed right out doors without adicutt clothes on, and after the truth was known, the marshall had to send a quart of anti-epidemic fluid to each house. And the whole cause of this near disaster, was that dern garage gar-age man beatin' and swearin at a poor span of innocent mules, cause the poor critters couldn't move fast enough to get the tow-car tow-car started. Two. In A Row Bingham's . prep basketeers, with two home games scheduled for next week, hope to get back in the running after losing a rough and tpugh one to Tooele. All general admission patrons will use north-west entrance and reserved re-served seat members use the front entrance. ALLEY ANGLES BDAA Blasts Schubach As Gemmell Loses to Comets The BDAA keglers moved back up the ladder in the Major Traveling league the past week by taking all four points from the Schubach Jewelers. Bill Ablett Ab-lett and J. Abplanalp both shot 600 series to lead the locals. At Sugarhouse, George Sluga fired another 620 series and your scribe 613, only to drop four points to Bill Ward's Comet Inn five. The Gemmell crew has lost some close ones lately but hope to turn the tide soon. Round Robin News Gordy Wood led the field after the first round of the popular State Round Robin tourney with an 831 series for four games. Doug Muir, last year's winner, finished the opener with an 826 series, as J. Abplanalp and Bill Ablett both ended the first round in third and eighth places. The large field of bowlers have four more weeks to shoot in this tourney. Each week end the contestants con-testants roll four games at different dif-ferent alleys until 20 games have been bowled. This most popular tourney has three divisions, A, B, and C and carries interest of about 500 keglers. |
