Show BINGHAM HIGH SCHOOL NEWS by ReNee Johnston GirU Club Meeting The Girls Club Association held a meeting Wednesday, January Jan-uary 26 at 12:30 p.m. A book review re-view entitled "Going On Sixteen" was given by Mrs. Odell Peterson Peter-son and was enjoyed by girls of the club. Mary Pappasideris, president, pre-sident, conducted a short business busi-ness discussion. One of the subjects sub-jects discussed was a dance to be held in March. The suggestion of girls sitting in a group at the games in order to give the team and the cheerleaders more support and also to learn the school songs and yells. It was announced that there would be a short meeting within the next two weeks to set plans for the dance and girls were urged to discuss it among themselves. them-selves. Personalities of the Month "Personalities of the month" chosen for January were also announced an-nounced during the Girls club meeting. Receiving honors in the senior high was Meriam Peterson. Voting Vot-ing took place in Miss Baer's room Wednesday under the supervision sup-ervision of club officers and advisor, ad-visor, Miss Vern Baer. Assembly . Due to weather the traveling assembly which was to be taken to Grantsville and Tooele last Friday was postponed until this Friday (today). The assembly was presented to the Bingham student body during the second period last Friday. Ralph Tibbie, student body president, made some announcements and then turned the time over for the assembly as-sembly which carried out the theme "Utterly Fantastic". Mary Pappasideris, a fortune teller and Ned Miller acted as narrators. A vocal solo "Far Away Places" was sung by Ned Brown accompanied accom-panied by ReNee Johnston, followed fol-lowed by a dance "Buttons and Bows" given by Donna Jean Gadd, Nykki Alverson, Shirley Anderson, Barbara Coward, ReNee Re-Nee Johnston, Gwen Sandstrom, Lois McCormick and Sue Peterson. Peter-son. A vocal solo "Body and Soul" was sung by Donna Rae Olsen, accompanied by Gerry Shilling. Don Diederich, accompanied accom-panied by Karlene Wilson, played play-ed a trumpet solo. Two skits, "Clem 'and Gert" and "Miss Pep-pernuckles Pep-pernuckles Models" were presented pre-sented by Beverly Beard, Meriam Mer-iam Peterson and Melia Furgis. A vocal solo, "Jalousie" was sung by Doris Anderson, accompanied accom-panied by Maurine Morley, followed fol-lowed by a dance "Steppin' Out" given by Jerry Watkins. "Hawaiian "Haw-aiian War Chant" was sung by the double trio consisting of Maurine Morley, Donna Rae Olsen, Ol-sen, Valene Rasmussen, Doris Anderson, Margy Isbell and Gerry Ger-ry Shilling. Barbara Coward was accompanist. As a concluding number Maurine Morley and Ned Brown sang "Sweethearts." They were accompanied by Miss Johnston. Patsy Willis, vice president, pre-sident, was head of the assembly committee. Lyceum The student council made up the calendar of lyceum numbers for next year in student council meeting held Wednesday. Junior High Assembly A traveling assembly was presented pre-sented to Bingham high student body Thursday by the West Jordan Jor-dan Junior high school under the direction of Lowell Hicks, music director and prominent radio personality. West Jordan cheerleaders cheer-leaders led the students in a yell after which Bingham junior high cheerleaders, Leora Hemmingsen, La Von Anderson and Patty Lee Fike took over to lead yells. The assembly was enjoyed by all. Junior High Game Bingham junior high scored a victory Thursday, January 27 in their basketball game with West Jordan junior' high. The score was 31 to 30. o |
