SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 12 CD-San CD-San Francisco's Seals were back In third place in the Pacific Coast baseball league today after blasting blast-ing Portland out of that position with a barrage of 21 base hits. Smarting from the defeat which pushed them out of third place on Tuesday, the Seals smothered last year's champions 18-8 last night. It was ths seventeenth victory for Sam Gibaon. Sacramento landed on th San Francisco Missions in th sixth inning to score four runs on three hits and four passes and win 4-2. Oakland, with the aid of a home run by Bobby Gibson, defeated San Diego, also 4-2. Los Angeles won the first game of a double-header with Seattle, 4-2,, but lost the seven-inning second sec-ond game, 8-3. Art Hunt of Seattle hit his thirty-first home run. |
