Show ZIMMER TAKES UP FBI POST Successor to Rorer Assumes Charge Val C Zimmer Thursday was in charge of the federal bureau of investigation in-vestigation here, succeeding W. A. Rorer, who the first of. this week left for his new post in Memphis, Tenn. Mr. Zimmer was promoted to take charge of the office he haa served for two years, coming here from Chicago. Mr. Rorer cam here about two years ago, being transferred from Atlanta, Ga. At Memphis he succeeds suc-ceeds T. N. Stapleton, who has been transferred to Cleveland. Ohio. While stationed at Birmingham, Ala., Mr. Rorer and hi Memphis assistant, R. E. Peterson, were given a large hare of th credit for directing th manhunt that resulted re-sulted in capture at Memphis of Georg "Machine Gun Kelly. He aided also in th capture of the kidnapers of Edward G. Bremer, St Paul banker, and in th (laying in St Paul of John Dillinger, long "Public Enemy No. 1." Accompanying him to Memphis were Mrs. Rorer, the former Atlanta At-lanta society girl. Miss Genie Davis, whom he married in September, 1938, and their son. |
