Show City Briefs Utah U. N. Association Picks Confab Speaker Clark M. Elchelberger, direct of the American Association for the United Nations, will be the principal speaker at a one-day conference of the Utah Association for the United Nations at the Hotel Utah Dec 14. Plans for the meeting were announced an-nounced by Atvtn O. Pack, association asso-ciation chairman. Seven members have been " ' named to the . board of directors. They are Bryant 8tringham, Vernal; Ver-nal; Paul Thstcher. Ogden: Dr. D. A. Harvey, Mrs. Ceorge Rogers, E. M. Roylo. Mrs. Lynn Thompson r and Heber Bennion Jr., all of Salt , Lake City. Mrs. S. Orover Rich I has been nsmed by the board to head the committee on arrangements arrange-ments for the Dec 14 session. Win Scholarship Award of a Frederic R. De Young scholarship from the school of law, Northwestern university, to Charles W. Johnson, 787-3rd ave was announced Tuesdsy by Dean Harold C. Havtfhurst at Evans-ton, Evans-ton, 111. Mr. Johnson Is the son of Wesley Wes-ley R. Johnson, a linotype operator opera-tor for The Salt Lake Tribune and Salt Lake Telegram, i Nomad Magazine Editor Bob Blllingsley. son of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Lee AngelL Swiss Books Displayed Sponsored by the Library of Congress, a traveling exhibit of some 700 outstanding Swiss books were on display Tueeday in the University of Utah library. They were compiled by Swiss officials to acquaint American book lovers with achievements of Swiss writers, scientists and publishers. |
