Newspaper Boy Day Utah Paper Carriers To Receive Acclaim Utah's newspaper carriers, hundreds hun-dreds strong, will receive the Official Offi-cial acclaim of their state and nation next Saturday during observance ob-servance of National Newspaper Boy day. Gov. J. Bracken Lee Saturday paid tribute to the carriers and after conferring with R. M. Ellis, Utah chairman of the observance, signed sn official proclamation designating Oct I as "Newspaper Boy day." Mr. Ellis, circulation manager of The Salt Lake Tribune and Salt Lake Telegram, was appointed appoint-ed Utah chairman by the Inter-1 national Circulation Managers Assn. and will be In direct charge of all Utah activities honoring the carriers. During the proclamation ceremonies cere-monies Gov. Lee met with John Stansel, 13, Belt Lake Telegram carrier boy and son of Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Stansel, 1340 Michigan; I ave. The youth told the governor that during the two years he has served as a Telegram carrier ha has saved 1200 toward his college education and his eventual goal as an aircraft engineer. "Not only that" he added, "being "be-ing a carrier boy has helped me In lots of other ways . . . I'm the pitcher on the neighborhood baseball base-ball team and throwing the papers every day keepa my arm In fine shape." Lee praised the training and experience gained by newspaper carriers as factors In preparing them for future fu-ture citizenship.
