Taxpayers Group Hits Plan to Shorten Hours Th Utah Taxpayer Assn. Saturday Sat-urday declared ahortening; of the work week for Salt Lake City firemen fire-men from 72 to 63 hours would result in one of two things Increased In-creased costs or lowered quality of fire protection. City firemen have requested the hortened work week, and the question will be submitted to the voters in November. The taxpsyers group reported thst the 72-hour work week Is the median point for all cities in the 25,000-600,000 population pop-ulation class.
