Show SUNDAY RIOT IN MOSCOW Alleged Rcrolutionists Make Things Warm for. Russian Police. MOSCOW. Dec 19.-Thls city was the - scene of a revolutionary demonstration Sunday from noon till nearly evening. Probably 6000 persons actually participated.. participat-ed.. Fortunately, the agitators did not succeed ln drawing the worklngmen from the factories Into the disturbance, and after af-ter many collisions, the police firing blank volleys and charging with their sabers, the crowds finally were dispersed. Many were wounded and more were arrested. ar-rested. As far as known, none of the rioters riot-ers was killed. One policeman is reported fatally injured. . Many on both sides were roughly handled. The authorities knew in advance that trouble was impending, and many houses along the Tverskala street were specially guarded. The mob fought" stubbornly, but finally - broke, and so'iht shelter in the side streets. Many of the demonstrators pa-. pa-. raded in sid j streets in smaller groups, waving flags and singing. Another stubborn fight ensued, ending with three blank volleys and saber charges The disturbance continued at Isolated spots throughout the afternoon. Many shops were turned-Into .hospitals, where the wounded were temporarily cared for. The workmen held aloof from the demonstration, de-monstration, employers having given them warning that any who participated would be dismissed. |
