The return to work of the S30O strikers In New ToYk city will i have no material effect upon the general situation in the stock yards strike, according ac-cording tr President Donnelly of tbe Butchers' union. Ia an address yesterday noon before an audience composed of 8000 strikers and their friends, Mr. .Donnelly declsred that, devplte the desertion of the New York members of the union, he would make.no change in his plans to tie-up the meat industry of the country this week. "The action of the New York strikers, who are said to have voted to desert us," said Mr. Donnelly, "was not entirety unexpected. un-expected. Their grievances were not as great as ears. s they quit work merely in sympathy with the strike of the Western West-ern members of the Batchers' union. Before Be-fore next Saturday night I expect there will be fully 50.000 ' more workmen In- ! volved In. the struggle, and the product of the New York plants will not break the tie-up planned for this week. "It has been predicted by many that the Strike would Be called off before today, but we are still in- the struggle and will remain. It would not be fair to you If I called the strike off. Four switches on the Chicago Junction tracks in tbe vicinity of the stock yards were torn out. signals, track and all by Vme unknown persons in an effort to wreck trains carrying meat from the pocking plants. The- absence of the switch lights was discovered In time, however, how-ever, to prevent an accident and a guard of policemen has- been placed along the tracks to prevent any further attempt at train wrecking.
